Tulip 'Magic Star' is a double tulip with the lavish, many-petalled form of a garden rose and the colour contrast of a well-planned theatrical costume. Its blooms unfurl in rich raspberry-pink to deep magenta red, each petal boldly edged and feathered with creamy white, creating a striking striped effect as the flowers open. In bud, Tulip 'Magic Star' looks neatly composed, but in full bloom it becomes wonderfully flamboyant, with layered petals twisting and lifting in the spring light. Grow Tulip 'Magic Star' in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position, planting the bulbs in autumn for a memorable late spring display. Its bold colouring pairs beautifully with purple alliums, blue forget-me-nots, fresh green euphorbias and soft white tulips, which help sharpen the raspberry and cream tones. The generous double flowers also make superb cut blooms, adding instant glamour to arrangements without requiring much supporting cast. In pots near a doorway or gathered through a border, Tulip 'Magic Star' feels confident, romantic and just a little extravagant, exactly as a good spring spectacle should.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
