Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Magic Sensation'
Tulip 'Magic Sensation' has the extravagant look of a peony that has wandered into the tulip border and decided to stay. This new exclusive double late tulip opens from neatly cupped buds into lavish layers of soft to bright pink petals, each one unfurling slowly for a display with real grace and movement. Reaching around 45 cm, Tulip 'Magic Sensation' is tall enough to make an impression without toppling into melodrama, which is always appreciated in spring. Its rounded blooms bring warmth to borders and pots, pairing beautifully with creamy whites, pale apricots and silvery foliage for a romantic, painterly effect.
As the flowers mature, Tulip 'Magic Sensation' becomes fuller and more sumptuous, shifting from tender rose tones to a clearer pink that catches the light beautifully. Plant Tulip 'Magic Sensation' in generous groups for the best effect, or let it shine in a container near a doorway where its silky, peony-like blooms can be admired at close range. It is also excellent for cutting, bringing a soft but unmistakable flourish indoors. Late in the tulip season, when the garden is gathering confidence, Tulip 'Magic Sensation' delivers a polished finale: elegant, feminine and just dramatic enough to make neighbouring tulips look slightly underdressed.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
