Description
Get the tulip season off to a bright start with this early-flowering gem, Tulip 'Little Beauty'. Botanical tulips like this mini marvel are often eager to get started, kick-starting the tulip season with a bang from as early as March. Good things come in a small packages, and these tulips are usefully small (great for pots and other little nooks) and of course amazingly beautiful with vivid pink petals and lavender-blue eyes. What’s extra special about species tulip 'Little Beauty' is that it is reliably perennial, so it will return every year and eventually start to multiply!
Combine Tulip 'Little Beauty' with other botanical tulips like Tulip 'Little Princess', 'Shogun' and 'Coerulea Oculata Alba' to create a jewel-like scheme in pots, borders or gravel areas. Typically flowering from late March/early April, they also make fantastic companions for hyacinths and muscari. Tulip ‘Little Beauty’ is easy to grow and doesn’t require anything in terms of maintenance once the bulbs are planted in the right spot. When planted in the ground, they will look after themselves and can be left to their own devices. When planted into pots, give them some fresh compost each year or plant out into the garden for year two.
Since botanical tulips had to evolve to survive in situations that may be less ideal, they are often tougher and easier to grow than hybrids.
