Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Librije'
Tulip 'Librije' is a study in contrast, bringing a painterly flourish to the spring border with its sharply defined bicolour petals. Each bloom opens in a rich violet tone, crisply edged in white as though traced by hand, giving Tulip 'Librije' a poised, almost theatrical presence. As a triumph tulip, Tulip 'Librije' stands with reliable, upright stems that hold their shape well against spring breezes, making it a dependable choice for both garden display and cutting. There is a certain refinement to its form, neither overly bold nor overly delicate, that allows it to settle beautifully among both contemporary and cottage-style plantings.
In the garden, Tulip 'Librije' pairs effortlessly with softer pastels or deep, moody companions, its clean lines offering balance and definition. Plant Tulip 'Librije' in generous drifts to appreciate the rhythm of its colouring, or weave it through borders where its distinctive edging can catch the eye at every turn. Flowering in mid spring, Tulip 'Librije' extends the seasonal display with quiet confidence, bridging the gap between early exuberance and late-season richness. Whether gathered into a vase or left to shine outdoors, Tulip 'Librije' brings a considered elegance that feels both modern and timeless.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
