Welcome the warm glow of Tulip 'Le Lavandou' into your garden next spring—whatever the weather, this tulip with its glorious petal-packed blooms is bound to bring a good helping of spring cheer. Tulip 'Le Lavandou' has many notable features which enable a high impact, impressive show. The first being its fully double blooms which are large, including a lower layer of pale green petals from which a mass of mango-orange petals burst from the centre. Secondly, its height—on tall, sturdy stems, the ball-like blooms will bob beautifully above lower-growing varieties and will also be useful for displaying in tall vases.
Plant Tulip 'Le Lavandou' in borders or pots in groups or swathes. They make a higher impact when grouped together, or you can achieve a more informal effect by dotting them around in a melange of tulips in complementing colours, like pastel pink, lilac, green, cream or white. This luxurious variety is just as easy to grow as any other tulip—all that’s required is to plant the bulbs in autumn into free draining soil and then wait for the big reveal in April!

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
