Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.

Deluxe
Sweeten up your spring with this decadent delight! Petal-packed Tulip 'Ice Cream Banana' opens into a luxurious, silky stack of sunny banana yellow ruffled layers giving an overall appearance of a generous dollop of banana ice cream, held in a green and pink cup as if it’s been topped a fruity drizzle of raspberry and lime. Of course, not actually edible, but this feast for the eyes certainly does look delicious!
Plant this confident character in groups either in pots or borders to make eye-catching chunky blocks of colour. It’s got so much going on in terms of colour and appearance that it’s quite happy to take centre stage. Tulip 'Ice Cream Banana' is a great choice for planting close to the house or seating area where it can get lots of attention.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
