Description
Set your spring plantings alight with Tulip 'Flames Mystery'! This flamboyant tulip in fiery colours creates a dramatic, almost theatrical display. The eye-catching twisted, pointed petals are tipped in scarlet, with a creamy-white base, and a burst yellow at the very heart which reveals itself fully as the flower opens up in the sunshine. The grey-green strappy leaves form a good foil to show off these vibrant blooms. Award-winning Tulip 'Flames Mystery' is also very versatile: thanks to its relatively short height of around 30cm it can be used to great effect in pots, as edging, in the fronts of borders or along pathways.
Tulip 'Flames Mystery' forms part of the Fosteriana group, although it is highly original in the shape of its blooms with their twisted tips. Blooming in mid spring, it is a strong enough character to stand alone, and will instantly enliven a quiet border or a patio in need of an injection of colour. But you could combine it with other spring blooms for a truly vibrant display: try combining Tulip 'Flames Mystery' with the deep blues of bluebells or loud-coloured mid to late-season daffodils. With all its unusual qualities and its originality, it’s no surprise that this tulip has been accoladed by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), receiving an Award of Garden Merit.
