Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.

'Double Blizz'
Tulip 'Double Blizz' is a brand-new variety and is not widely available—yet! It has performed wonderfully well in trials and we predict a very bright future for it. The petals of this tulip are delicate-looking, yet sturdy. They are fuchsia-pink and white, in near enough equal measure, often with green markings in the white sections. The flowers are beautifully bowl-shaped, and become even more dramatic when they open out fully. They appear over several weeks in April and May. From a distance, you could easily mistake these late-flowering tulips for dramatic peonies, so Tulip 'Double Blizz' is an excellent choice for extending the blooming season.
Don’t forget, this new tulip is wonderful as a cut flower too; its strong, tall stems are well able to carry the heavy flowers. Make sure you are able to enjoy its beauty close-up. Tulip 'Double Blizz' is in the tulip Division 11, officially named a Double Late Tulip.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
