Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Doll's Minuet'
There is a certain theatrical charm to Tulip 'Doll's Minuet', a variety that feels both dramatic and quietly refined. Its fluted blooms unfurl in deep magenta tones, each petal elegantly shaped and subtly ruffled, while a striking dark green flame runs through the centre, adding depth and intrigue. Standing tall at around 55cm, Tulip 'Doll's Minuet' rises gracefully above its broadly ovate green foliage, creating a poised and statuesque presence in the late spring garden. The colouring is rich yet balanced, allowing Tulip 'Doll's Minuet' to command attention without ever appearing overstated.
With its perennial nature, Tulip 'Doll's Minuet' offers not only beauty but also reassuring reliability, returning year after year with consistent performance. It lends itself beautifully to layered planting schemes, where its height and distinctive colouring can be used to weave contrast among softer pinks, whites, or even dusky purples. Equally, Tulip 'Doll's Minuet' makes an elegant cut flower, its sculptural form adding a sense of movement and artistry to arrangements. Whether planted in generous drifts or as a considered accent, Tulip 'Doll's Minuet' brings a sophisticated flourish to the closing chapter of the tulip season.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
