Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Daniella'
Tulip 'Daniella' is a charming and quietly radiant variety, its open, star-like blooms glowing in a warm rose-pink that feels both fresh and gently luminous. Each petal of Tulip clusiana 'Daniella' is softly flushed with colour, surrounding a bright, sunny yellow centre that draws the eye and adds a cheerful spark to the planting. As the flowers open fully, Tulip 'Daniella' reveals its graceful, almost botanical form, lending a lightness and natural ease to borders and containers. Flowering in spring, it works beautifully when planted in generous drifts, where Tulip 'Daniella' creates a soft, cohesive wash of colour.
Reaching a modest height of around 15cm, Tulip 'Daniella' is perfectly suited to the front of borders, rockeries and pots, where its compact habit can be fully appreciated. Despite its smaller stature, Tulip 'Daniella' makes a delightful impact, especially when planted in clusters or woven among other botanical tulips for a naturalistic effect. It is also surprisingly effective as a cut flower, bringing a touch of spring brightness indoors. With its balance of subtle colouring and sunny detail, Tulip clusiana 'Daniella' offers a gentle, uplifting presence that rewards close inspection as much as it enhances the wider scene.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
