Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.

Tulip collection
'Blooming Bonfire'
Sparks will fly in your spring garden when this blaze of blooms gets underway! Our 'Blooming Bonfire' Tulip collection comprises dream duo Tulip 'Crème Upstar' and Tulip 'Granny Award 'to bring you a sensational, simultaneous display of perfectly colour-coordinated flowers, each bloom formed of a double set of silky petals in relaxed rounds for added kapow. Choosing compatible tulips can be puzzling, there’s flowering time, height and flower shape to consider, not to mention colour. So, we’ve put this perfect pair together for you so you can just plant, wait and be proud of your professional-looking planting scheme when it pops up in spring!
Uniting these two tulip varieties results in a vintage-looking gold and silver overall effect. Aside from height, flower shape and flowering time, the two varieties which make Tulip collection 'Blooming Bonfire' also have a sweet pink blush in common, which is a big part of what merges the two colours into such a brilliant blend. The rosy tinge tones down the two colours, adding an antique duskiness which is so sought after in gardens at the moment. Not only do these tulips look great growing in borders and patio containers, but also bunched together in cut-flower arrangements.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
