Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Cabanna'
Parrot tulips are treasured for their twisted, curving petals that curl like yoga-masters into the most alluring shapes. Famed for their extravagant, ruffled petals, the over-sized flower heads make an impressive statement in late spring. The creamy-white petals of Tulip 'Cabanna' are infused apple-green which gradually colours through sugared-almond shades of soft pink. As each bloom reaches its peak, the feathered markings deepen to bright fuchsia. When planted in generous group, the lavish Tulip 'Cabanna' creates a frilly embroidery of undulating petals in the softest shades.
Tulip 'Cabanna' is one of the longest flowering parrot tulip varieties, delivering real staying power with blooms that last for weeks. Strong stems reaching around 40cm make this a useful cut flower for the prettiest spring bouquets. For the best performance, plant your Tulip 'Cabanna' bulbs in a sheltered spot well out of reach of the strongest winds, where they will grow happily on a wide range of free-draining soils.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
