Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Blushing Fire'
Tulip 'Blushing Fire' is a fringed tulip with all the drama of a flamenco skirt caught in a spring breeze. Its large, cup-shaped blooms open in rich shades of hot pink, raspberry and cerise, with finely cut, feathered edges that flicker in lighter pink at the tips. The result is vibrant, textured and wonderfully expressive, giving Tulip 'Blushing Fire' a sense of movement even on the stillest day. Planted in groups, Tulip 'Blushing Fire' brings a bold splash of colour to late spring borders, pots and cutting gardens, where its frilled petals can be admired up close.
Grow Tulip 'Blushing Fire' in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position, planting the bulbs in autumn for a vivid spring display. Its intense pink colouring looks superb with deep purple tulips, fresh green euphorbias, blue forget-me-nots and soft white narcissi, creating a scheme that feels lively without losing elegance. The fringed petals add texture as well as colour, making the flowers especially striking in containers near a doorway or terrace. Excellent for cutting, Tulip 'Blushing Fire' brings flamboyance indoors too, though it may slightly upstage the vase.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
