Description
Vivid. Bold. Dramatic. Those who have grown Tulip 'Barbados' have used these words to describe its spectacular deep vermillion red, heavily fringed petals. This is an exotic tulip with flowers that will be the first thing anyone sees when they enter the garden. The blooms, which appear over several weeks in spring, stand out beautifully from the classic mid-green leaves. This is a very strong grower, but it also has a delightfully sweet fragrance!
Suitable for growing in beds, borders and patio containers, Tulip 'Barbados' is so versatile when it comes to colour matching. It will mix well both with plants of contrasting colours (such as yellow or white), or harmonious colours (such as pink or cream). And those wishing to make a statement in their garden could even plant it with hot, vibrant colours in the same family (such as orange or purple). Do not forget, too, that the strong stems will make this tulip perfect for cutting and bringing indoors for vase decoration. Tulip 'Barbados' is in the tulip Division 7, known as the Fringed Group.
