Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Avignon Parrot'
Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' brings a sense of artistry to the late spring garden, its lavishly ruffled petals glowing in rich shades of orange. Each bloom of Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' is generously proportioned, with elegantly fringed edges that curl and twist into an intricate, almost sculptural form. There is a natural drama to its silhouette, yet it remains poised rather than overpowering. As light moves across the petals, Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' reveals subtle shifts in tone, lending depth and a quietly captivating presence that invites closer inspection.
Blooming later in the tulip season, Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' is an excellent choice for extending colour in borders and containers. Its sturdy stems carry the large flowers with surprising ease, making Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' equally rewarding as a cut flower indoors. Whether paired with soft apricots, dusky purples or fresh spring greens, Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' introduces contrast and movement without disrupting the harmony of a planting scheme. Long flowering and undeniably distinctive, Tulipa 'Avignon Parrot' offers a refined take on exuberance, perfect for gardeners who appreciate bold beauty with a touch of elegance.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
