Description
Transform a dull, shaded part of the garden into the lush growing space with the help of Tricyrtis 'Blue Wonder'. This plant not only has exotic-looking, fascinating blooms which appear in late summer, but the leaves through the season pad out the space with glossy greenery too. The amazing Tricyrtis 'Blue Wonder' produces flowers in an alluring shade of violet-blue. They draw you in for a closer look, and when you see them up close there are some pretty fabulous details to absorb! These include speckled markings, a three-pronged umbrella of styles complete with glistening dewdrop-like glands, plus dainty mauve anthers.
Areas around shrubs or under trees can often be left bare as some plant will struggle in the shade, but Tricyrtis, also known as toad lily, actually quite likes to dwell in such cool, damp and sheltered spots. Make sure you plant Tricyrtis 'Blue Wonder' in a sheltered part of the garden which has rich, moist soil. When it’s happy in its place, it will establish to form a clump which returns every year.
Tricyrtis are called toad lilies because the flowers and leaves are spotted like a toad. The flowers also have a bumpy base that appears like a toad's skin. These are the nectaries of the flower.

Useful information
-
Soak your Tricyrtis 'Blue Wonder' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Toad lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
