Description
Your summer flowers will really pop when they’re next to this dark delight, Sedum 'José Aubergine'. Of course, those fleshy aubergine-coloured leaves coupled with rosy-pink blooms in late summer is a beautiful sight in its own right, but with colour interest provided by its foliage from the beginning to the end of summer, it also works so perfectly as a plant to pair and contrast with others. Sun-loving, drought-tolerant Sedum 'José Aubergine' syn. Hylotelephium 'José Aubergine' combines well with plants which enjoy the same conditions, such as Salvia, hardy geraniums and Iris. Just watch as neighbouring summer flowers come and go around this sedum and enjoy how this dark backdrop brings out their vibrancy!
Known for being low maintenance, unfussy, resilient and easy to grow, ice plants like this are always well worth their space in a sunny border. Once settled in, this succulent plant barely ever requires watering and the strong stems are typically self-supporting. Sedum 'José Aubergine' is a pollinator-magnet so if you’re gardening with the hope of helping the bees and butterflies, this perennial will definitely draw them in with its generous platters of nectar-rich blooms.

Useful information
-
Soak your Sedum 'José Aubergine' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Ice plant" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
