Description

Rudbeckia 'Goldquelle' is a beautiful, long-flowering perennial that lights up the garden with its double, yellow blooms. These bright, daisy-like flowers stand on tall, sturdy stems, creating a cheerful and eye-catching display from midsummer into early autumn. The soft, fluffy petals and vibrant colour of Rudbeckia 'Goldquelle' make it a standout in any sunny border, bringing a touch of sunshine to even the dullest days.

Rudbeckia laciniata 'Goldquelle' thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, fertile soil. Its tall, upright growth makes it perfect for the middle or back of borders, where its long-lasting blooms can rise above other perennials. It also works wonderfully in prairie-style planting schemes or naturalistic gardens. Ensure it has good support, as the tall stems can lean in windy conditions, and prepare the soil with plenty of organic matter for best results. The bright yellow blooms of Rudbeckia 'Goldquelle' are perfect for pairing with late-summer and autumn perennials. Combine it with purple echinaceas or blue salvias for a striking colour contrast, or mix with ornamental grasses like Miscanthus for a natural, prairie-inspired look. Its cheerful flowers also look stunning alongside other sun-lovers such as Sedum or asters, creating a vibrant, wildlife-friendly display.

Rudbeckia 'Goldquelle' is a pollinator magnet, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects throughout its long flowering season. Its hardy nature and ability to thrive in a range of conditions make it a reliable choice for gardens, coming back year after year with an even stronger display. This variety is also disease-resistant and low-maintenance, making it perfect for both experienced and novice gardeners alike. Although Rudbeckia 'Goldquelle' typically prefers garden beds, it can also be grown in large containers, where its bright yellow blooms will create a focal point on patios or terraces. Choose a deep pot with good drainage, and place it in a sunny spot for the best results. Regular watering and feeding will keep it blooming for months.

Rudbeckia laciniata 'Goldquelle' is a must-have for those looking to add a splash of sunshine to their borders or pots. With its long flowering season, pollinator-friendly blooms, and low-maintenance nature, it’s an ideal choice for creating a vibrant and cheerful garden.

Useful information

    • Soak the Rudbeckia 'Goldquelle' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting

    • Plant your "Coneflower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors

    • Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).

    • Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
