Whilst a real blizzard in August is unlikely, Phlox 'Sweet Summer Snow' will smatter your garden with flurry of glistening white flowers, frosting the top of each stem from mid summer right through to autumn. The gleaming flowerheads will highlight a mixed colour planting scheme, or sit peacefully within a chic white garden. To top it all off, the blooms are richly scented so expect to be stopped in your tracks every time you pass by. Make sure you cut a few stems to bring indoors, Phlox make excellent cut flowers and their fragrance can fill a room!

Phlox paniculata 'Sweet Summer Snow' ('Ditosnow'ᴾᴮᴿ) (Sweet Summer Series) is a carefree hardy perennial, thriving in sun or semi-shade and enjoying almost any soil. This dazzling hardy perennial will illuminate lightly shaded borders or be radiant in full sun. Growing to a height of around 60cm, this is a shorter-stemmed variety which is particularly useful for container displays and works just as well towards the front of borders. Wildlife friendly gardeners are sure to love this plant! The blooms are constantly busy with the hum of bees and butterflies who find its nectar irresistible.

  • Plant your Phlox in spring, ideally after frosts have finished; keep the crown of plant at or just above the soil surface
  • Plant in borders or large patio containers, in full sun or part shade
  • Set plants 40-60cm apart
  • Water-in after planting and keep hydrated while in growth
  • Once established, this plant will survive winter outdoors.
  • Plants may need staking if grown in an exposed position
  • To prolong flowering remove the flower clusters as soon as they start to fade
  • Feed plants with a general fertiliser once in early spring, followed by a light mulch of rich leaf-mould or well-rotted compost. Feed again in early or mid-summer
