Description
One word is regularly used to describe this hardy, tall Phlox: amazing! Phlox amplifolia 'Hercules' is unlike any other tall phlox; it produces huge pyramid-shaped clusters of bubblegum-pink flowers, each bloom accented with a delicate white eye. Each flower cluster can measure up to 38cm in length and 25cm in diameter at their widest point. The flowers are delightfully fragrant, too. However, the really amazing feature of this Phlox is that it can sometimes reach as much as 210cm in height!
Phlox 'Hercules' makes an amazing display at the back of a border, or in a large container, or even in a cutting garden: just one of these eye-popping flower clusters will create a full bouquet for indoor enjoyment, and will last a long time in water.
Grow Phlox amplifolia 'Hercules' in any moderately fertile soil, in full sun to part shade. It will be loved by bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects—while all human visitors will think it is simply ‘amazing’!

Useful information
-
Soak the Phlox 'Hercules' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
