Description
Fresh, luminous and effortlessly neat, Phlox 'Ground White' offers a graceful solution for covering bare soil with something both beautiful and practical. Reaching a modest 15–20cm in height, Phlox 'Ground White' forms a dense, evergreen carpet of fine, needle-like foliage that quietly suppresses weeds while keeping the garden looking polished. In spring, this tidy mat is transformed as a flurry of crisp white flowers appears, creating a soft, cloud-like effect that brightens rockeries, borders and the edges of paths. Phlox 'Ground White' is particularly effective when allowed to spill gently over walls or nestle between paving, where its fresh tones bring a sense of calm and cohesion.
Also known as white moss phlox, Phlox 'Ground White' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, rewarding even minimal care with a reliable, long-lasting display. Its spreading habit makes it ideal for filling awkward gaps, while its evergreen nature ensures year-round structure. Phlox 'Ground White' is wonderfully low-maintenance, making it as appealing to experienced gardeners as it is to those just beginning. Year after year, Phlox subulata 'Ground White' returns with dependable vigour, proving that simplicity can be every bit as striking as more elaborate planting schemes. A quietly elegant choice, it lends a sense of lightness and order wherever it settles.

Useful information
-
Soak your Phlox 'Ground White' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "White moss phlox" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
