Unpack bare roots on arrival and plant them within a week. Until then, keep them somewhere cool and ensure the roots remain slightly moist, never wet.
'Flatscreen Haze'
dwarf phlox
Neat, modern and gloriously floriferous, Phlox 'Flatscreen Haze' is the patio star that punches far above its weight. This naturally dwarf phlox forms a crisp, rounded cushion of fresh green leaves to around 20cm, then—almost theatrically—covers itself in generous trusses of soft lilac flowers. The effect is clean and contemporary, like a cloud of colour hovering just above the pot. Plant Phlox 'Flatscreen Haze' along a path, pop it into a favourite container, or tuck it at the front of a small border where space is precious. You’ll love the way Phlox 'Flatscreen Haze' holds its shape without fuss, staying compact yet exuberant from early summer into the mellow months.
Deliciously easy to please, Phlox 'Flatscreen Haze' enjoys sun or light shade and appreciates regular moisture—simple, everyday care for a long, luminous show. The blooms make charming little posies, while in the garden they’re a magnet for bees and butterflies, bringing gentle movement and a hum of life to the terrace. Combine Phlox 'Flatscreen Haze' with cool salvias, silvery foliage or architectural grasses for an effortless, design-led look. That refined, uniform habit means your display stays tidy even at peak flower power; no staking, no sprawling, just a poised mound topped with mirrors of lilac. For small gardens, balconies and courtyards, this dwarf phlox is the easiest way to look impeccably put-together without trying.

Remove the packaging straight away, check the compost and water thoroughly if dry. Check the plant’s hardiness before placing it outdoors. Plant into a border or permanent container within a month, choosing the position recommended for the variety. Keep the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil, firm gently and water well.
Soak the roots in water for three to six hours immediately before planting. Keep any crown, buds or emerging shoots above the water where possible.
Pot most bare roots into 15–20cm pots filled with peat-free multipurpose compost. Large or depth-sensitive roots, including peonies, are often best planted directly into borders.
Arrange the roots naturally without bending them. Cover the roots completely, positioning the crown and buds at the depth recommended for that particular perennial.
Keep pots in a sheltered outdoor position and water whenever the compost begins to dry. Grow on until roots hold the compost together when lifted from the pot.
Plant into a suitable border or permanent container once well rooted. Add a label and water regularly throughout the first growing season while the perennial establishes.
