Description
If you’re like a child in a sweetie shop when it comes to buying plants, Peony 'Lollipop' is one to drop into your pick ‘n’ mix. A beautiful flower with a cheeky element of fun, it holds you in suspense as every bloom which opens is different from the last! Predominantly pale apricot peach with random streaks of raspberry pink, this intersectional (Itoh) peony and its sherbety hues is a real eye candy!
Another of our wonderful Itoh peonies, 'Lollipop' is a most unusual and sought-after hybrid. It is easy to grow, hardy, and makes an upright, bushy plant with lush, green, finely divided leaves. But it is the large, semi-double blooms that make this one of the most eye-catching plants you could own. In late spring and early summer, the flowers emerge pale apricot-yellow and, as they age, develop a deep pinkish tinge with purple flecks and stripes. They are delicately scented, too. No staking is required. For best results, grow this peony in rich, well-prepared soil in full sun, although it will tolerate part-shade perfectly well. Protect from wind and prune in late winter when plants are still dormant.
Itoh peonies like 'Lollipop' are a cross between a herbaceous and a tree peony which means they are woody, compact, perennial and very easy to grow. Flowing around May to June, their role is to provide the perfect splash of colour to continue the spring season seamlessly into summer.

Useful information
-
Soak the Paeonia 'Lollipop' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
