When the summer breeze blows in your garden, Buckeye Belle is sure to be a star performer. Her costume shows she is ready for the limelight. Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle' bloom is like a pompom or a ruffled underskirt, an almost complete ball of tiny rolled petals resting on the larger base petals in such a way that the light and shadow play around their edges. Changing the light breaks down the rich red, almost chocolate colour, of the bloom into different shades!
Peony 'Buckeye Belle' has won an APS Award of Landscape Merit in 2009 for its superior ornamental value and overall appearance!

Soak the Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
