Description

We all love oriental poppies, and their cheerful display of huge, satin-like flowers in late spring and early summer. These days they come in a huge range of colours too, and now, the best of the double orange forms is being offered. Meet Papaver 'Harvest Moon': with its beautiful bowl-shaped, papery, frilled, deep tangerine-orange, double flowers. It’s an unusual poppy flower – in both shape and colour – and is sure to become a talking point. Papaver orientale 'Harvest Moon' is free flowering, and is perfect for the front of a border, or a patio pot or container.

A deciduous perennial, growing to 60-90cm in height, orange Papaver 'Harvest Moon' has the typical hairy, divided, greyish-green leaves of the oriental poppy. But it really comes alive when the upright, leafy stems carrying the blooms arrive.

Oriental poppies are a cottage garden and mixed border favourite, giving intense colour year after year. Easy to grow, and trouble-free, 'Harvest Moon' thrives in a sunny or partially shaded spot, and in any well-drained soil.
