Unpack bare roots or rhizomes on arrival and plant them within a week. Until then, keep them somewhere cool and ensure the roots remain slightly moist, never wet.

Paeonia
'Lois Choice'
peony
Paeonia 'Lois Choice' is a peony that truly earns the word extraordinary. From the moment its deep pink buds appear, there is a sense of anticipation, as though something special is quietly preparing to unfold. As each bud opens in deliberate stages, Paeonia 'Lois Choice' reveals an astonishing interplay of colour: soft rose pink giving way to a glowing buttery yellow, before returning once more to pink. The petals are densely packed and immaculately arranged, creating a flower that feels both painterly and precise. Bred by the celebrated Chris Laning, Paeonia 'Lois Choice' has an almost theatrical presence, yet never tips into excess. Each bloom feels considered, generous and quietly confident, offering a warmth that draws the eye and holds it there.
The flowers of Paeonia 'Lois Choice' sit close to a compact, well-shaped plant with impressively strong stems, ensuring those sumptuous blooms are beautifully supported. Fresh green, slightly pointed foliage adds an ornamental quality even before flowering begins, making this peony attractive for much of the season. Exceptionally floriferous and showing clear hybrid vigour, Paeonia 'Lois Choice' performs reliably year after year, growing into a sturdy, elegant presence in the border. It partners effortlessly with both classic and contemporary planting schemes, bringing softness, structure and a heart-warming glow. For gardeners who value breeding excellence as much as beauty, Paeonia 'Lois Choice' is a peony that quickly becomes cherished.

Remove the packaging straight away, check the compost and water thoroughly if dry. Check the plant’s hardiness before placing it outdoors. Plant into a border or permanent container within a month, choosing the position recommended for the variety. Keep the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil, firm gently and water well.
Soak the roots in water for three to six hours immediately before planting. Keep any crown, buds or emerging shoots above the water where possible.
Pot most bare roots into 15–20cm pots filled with peat-free multipurpose compost. Large or depth-sensitive roots, including peonies, are often best planted directly into borders.
Arrange the roots naturally without bending them. Cover the roots completely, positioning the crown and buds at the depth recommended for that particular perennial.
Keep pots in a sheltered outdoor position and water whenever the compost begins to dry. Grow on until roots hold the compost together when lifted from the pot.
Plant into a suitable border or permanent container once well rooted. Add a label and water regularly throughout the first growing season while the perennial establishes.
