Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.
'Xit'
daffodil
Narcissus 'Xit' is a quietly exquisite daffodil, proving that smaller blooms can carry just as much presence as their showier counterparts. Rising to a neat 15cm, Narcissus 'Xit' produces elegantly poised flowers, each around 5cm across, with broad, smooth perianth segments in a pure, luminous white. These petals are gently reflexed, creating a soft, star-like form that feels both crisp and refined. At the centre sits a distinctive, disc-shaped corona, delicately ribbed and also white, but intriguingly washed with green at the base, lending the flower a fresh, almost porcelain-like quality. Set against grey-green foliage, Narcissus 'Xit' has a serene, composed beauty that suits both contemporary and traditional planting alike.
Flowering in mid-spring, Narcissus 'Xit' is ideal for the front of borders, gravel gardens, or naturalistic drifts where its understated colouring can be fully appreciated up close. Despite its modest stature, Narcissus 'Xit' holds its own, particularly when planted in generous groups or paired with soft blues and silvery companions. It also performs beautifully in containers, where its neat proportions and refined blooms can be admired at eye level. Reliable and effortlessly graceful, Narcissus 'Xit' brings a sense of calm sophistication to the spring garden, returning each year with quiet confidence and just a hint of the unexpected.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
