Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.
'Double Joy'
daffodil
Be one of the first to grow this exciting, brand new daffodil, Narcissus 'Double Joy'! This sunny character brings a bold blast of colour to the garden in mid spring each year with its muddled mass of yellow and orange petals. If you find this colourway familiar, that’s because this is a slightly wacky cousin of much-loved Narcissus 'Jetfire'. It’s as golden, glowing, strong and reliable it’s relative, but the extra petals bring double the fun!
Plant Narcissus 'Double Joy' in pots, borders or even in the lawn and wait for the spring glee to kick in! Typically flowering in around March, there’s nothing like a zesty dash of yellow and orange to bring a ray of sunshine to even the greyest of days. Every year, this cheery daffodil with pop up for another lively show, and over time the bulbs of Narcissus 'Double Joy' will multiply to form established clumps. If you’re looking for bulbs to plant with a bright and breezy daffodil like this, try pairing with purple or blue hyacinths.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
