Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.

The recently introduced Narcissus 'Carice' (2016) is a delightful, petite daffodil, with creamy white petals that open fully, to surround a flower tube of bright salmon pink. It is a beautiful yet subtle combination that looks great from a distance, but even better close up! By early spring it will grow up to 20-25cm in height, surrounded by its slender, pale green foliage!
When established, bulbs will become clump-forming the longer they are in the ground. They grow best in moist, but well drained soil which is slightly acidic. ‘Carice’ is the perfect choice for naturalising in grassland, but it looks just as ‘at home’ growing in drifts in the border, or in patio containers. It prefers to grow in dappled shade, but will do almost as well in full sun. Narcissus 'Carice' is in the Narcissus Group 6 (Cyclamineus).

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
