Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.

Narcissus
'Albus Plenus Odoratus'
daffodil
Delight the senses with the true aroma of spring! There’s no more distinct spring fragrance than that of the daffodil, and Narcissus ‘Albus Plenus Odoratus’ provides it by the bucket-load. The wonderful white double blooms have powerful scent – every time you step out of the house you’ll be able to enjoy this beauty close up or from afar as its scent is carried in the air, particularly so on sunny days. This variety has unusual looks, without a traditional trumpet but with an extra whorl of petals instead. Growing to a height of around 30cm, the strong stems support these elegant flowers throughout the season, so you can enjoy them with very little fuss.
Narcissus ‘Albus Plenus Odoratus’ is a great choice for planting in containers where they can be positioned close to the house and the scent can be admired. Or plant them in borders where they can naturalise, providing stronger and bolder natural groups year after year. And finally, don’t forget to snip a few stems to display in your home too – they make wonderful cut flowers with outstanding vase life. Once they’re indoors, the fragrance is unmissable.

Plant profile
Plant calendar
Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
