Description
Miscanthus 'Polonus' is the ornamental grass that quietly steals the scene—never loud, but impossible to ignore. Medium in stature yet bold in presence, it produces a mass of dense, feathery plumes in soft shades of rose-red that hover gracefully above the foliage. These blooms catch the light like silk, lending the whole plant a luxurious texture and fullness that few grasses can rival. The deep green leaves form a tidy clump, providing structure and balance through the growing season, before shifting into glowing tones of amber and gold as autumn arrives. Miscanthus 'Polonus' has that rare knack for being both elegant and easy-going—beautiful without trying too hard.
As the season deepens, the flower heads turn fluffy and pale, swaying gently in the wind and catching the last of the year’s sunshine. Disease-resistant and undemanding, Miscanthus sinensis 'Polonus' brings long-lasting interest to borders, terraces and smaller gardens alike, where its soft movement and warm tones add a touch of drama without dominating the view. Elephant grass 'Polonus' is an ideal choice for those who appreciate texture as much as colour, and for anyone who wants their garden to look effortless yet refined. Let Miscanthus 'Polonus' take its place, and you’ll wonder how your late-summer borders ever looked complete without it.

Useful information
-
Soak your Miscanthus 'Polonus' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Elephant grass" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
