Description
If low maintenance and long lasting sounds good to you, you'll enjoy having Miscanthus 'Boucle' in your garden. This gorgeous ornamental grass looks great from spring right through to autumn and asks for very little in return. Chunky green leaves with a white rib grow tall and upright in spring. Later in summer, Miscanthus 'Boucle' lets down the curly plum-coloured locks, and that is truly is something to look forward to! Almost like crimped ponytails, they swish in the breeze on tall stems, adding ripples of movement to your planting scheme. In autumn, the flowers fade to a silvery colour and the leaves adopt a toasty orange hue.
Miscanthus sinensis 'Boucle' is very easy going and also fairly drought tolerant. You'll need to offer it a bit of care while it's settling in, but once established it'll sit quietly and happily in a sunny border, rarely needing water (unless it’s an incredibly dry and hot summer) and just requires a quick chop down to ground level in autumn. This perennial grass (also known as elephant grass) is fully hardy and will grow back every year, gradually spreading to form a good clump over time.Key features

Soak the Miscanthus 'Boucle' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Elephant grass" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
