Description
For when subtly and restraint just won’t do, the dazzling flowers of Lupinus 'Rachel de Thame' offer a flamboyant mix of hot cerise and pure white, perfect for injecting some fun into your garden! At 90cm tall, Lupin 'Rachel de Thame' is ideal for the middle to back of a border. Try combining it with our Lupinus 'Mosaic Mix' for an explosion of late spring to early summer colour.
These sunworshippers will do best in a sunny, well-draining spot—the poorer and sandier the soil, the better. If you have heavy, wet soil, you’ll probably have better results growing your 'Rachel de Thame' lupines in a pot filled with gritty compost. Make sure it’s nice and deep to allow for their deep tap roots. For taller varieties like Lupinus 'Rachel de Thame', you’ll probably need to provide a little support. Reusable link stakes work well, or a network of branches and twigs inserted around the plant as growth emerges in spring.

Useful information
-
Soak your Lupinus 'Rachel de Thame' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
