Description
Kniphofia 'Rasta' is a lively spectacle in any summer or autumn garden, bringing a playful burst of colour with its spikes of coral red graduating into lime yellow. The long, linear, strap-like leaves provide a fresh green backdrop, making each flower spike pop like a painter’s final flourish. Kniphofia 'Rasta' grows with a sculptural presence, perfect for creating vertical interest at the back of borders, or adding a bold statement to containers. With its energetic palette, Kniphofia 'Rasta' is impossible to ignore, yet it blends beautifully with perennials in complementary tones, lifting any planting scheme with ease.
Beyond its vibrant summer display, Kniphofia rufa 'Rasta' keeps on giving well into autumn, extending the garden’s season of colour. Its tough, clump-forming habit ensures the plant will return year after year, rewarding a sunny spot with minimal fuss. Kniphofia 'Rasta' also attracts pollinators, offering nectar-rich blooms that garden bees and butterflies adore. Hardy and resilient, Kniphofia 'Rasta' thrives in well-draining soil and can take the occasional dry spell without complaint. Whether you’re aiming for dramatic architectural impact or a cheerful, tropical-inspired border, Kniphofia 'Rasta' is a dependable, eye-catching choice that dances across the garden stage from summer into autumn.
Kniphofia is known as red-hot poker because its blazing flower spikes look like molten pokers just pulled from the fire.

Useful information
-
Soak your Kniphofia 'Rasta' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Red-hot poker" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
