Description

With a swish of her silken skirts, Iris sibirica 'Yellowtail' will flounce into your summer borders with true style and aplomb. The gorgeously ruffled, semi-double blooms feature primrose yellow outer falls which encircle the central frosted white flagsa truly sublime combination of mouthwatering fondant fancy shades! Flowering abundantly throughout late spring and early summer, this winsome Siberian iris will naturalise well, forming tall, elegant clumps over time, bringing structure as well as a little light-hearted fun to any display.

Delicate appearance notwithstanding, Iris sibirica 'Yellowtail' is as robust as they comefully hardy, and with stiff, swordlike foliage that will stand up to wind and rain in even the most exposed locations. Favouring a moist but free-draining soil, but with some drought resistance once established, this unfussy, low maintenance delight is a gleaming highlight in which you can look forward to seeing year after year in your perennial planting scheme.

Useful information

    • Soak the Iris 'Yellowtail' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting

    • Plant your "Siberian iris" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors

    • Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).

    • Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
