Description

If you like to flaunt the fanciest flowers, it’s time to put dinnerplate Irises like Iris ensata 'Tub Tim Grob' on your plant radar. This is as pink-cream coloured and luxurious as the classic Thai Ruby desert it’s named after. The wide arching petals of Iris ensata 'Tub Tim Grob' are frosted with a tracery of sugary lilac-pink streaks that fade to white at their rippling outer edges. A flicker of gold at the centre of each bloom adds an eye-catching contrast to these over-sized blooms. Dinnerplate Iris are the showgirls of the Iris world boasting enormous blooms, twice the size of traditional Iris ensata varieties. Just a few stems will add instant glamour to summer bouquets!

Iris ensata 'Tub Tim Grob' relishes a spot in sun with cool, damp soil that won’t dry out in summer. Paddling in damp, boggy borders or the outer margins of ponds or any other area with moisture-retentive soil, this Japanese water iris will gradually form dense clump of elegant, slender leaves that dance in the breeze adding height and movement to planting schemes.
