Description
Embrace the bubbly blooms of Hydrangea 'Candybelle Bubblegum'. Just plant this sweet-looking shrub and wait for the pop – a froth of dome-shaped, candy-pink flowerheads fizzes into action and illuminates lightly shaded areas with a foamy-soft, romantic glow. Each generous flowerhead opens from a deep, green-pink bud to reveal blushed bracts that gently fade to white as they age. The sturdy stems of Hydrangea 'Candybelle Bubblegum' are strong enough to support its flower-laden heads, so there’s no risk of flower-flop, even in wet weather. As summer draws to a close, the foliage turns to rich bronze shades, making the perfect backdrop for the cafe-crème tones of its faded flowers.
This arborescens variety is ideal where space is limited, delivering the same over-sized blooms of bigger Hydrangeas but with a more compact habit of around 1m, suiting even small gardens. Like all Hydrangeas, this hardy deciduous shrub prefers a moist but well drained, acid or neutral soil. Plant Hydrangea arborescens 'Candybelle Bubblegum' in a partially shaded spot protected from the hottest sun, such as a woodland area or towards the back of mixed borders. Hydrangea 'Candybelle Bubblegum' blends beautifully among leafy ferns, Hostas and other shade loving perennials. Supplied as a bare root, this shrub won’t reach full size in year one but you can enjoy watching this low-maintenance beauty establish over time.

Useful information
-
Soak the Hydrangea 'Candybelle Bubblegum' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Hortensia" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
