Description
Grow your own hosta heaven, complete with a beautiful Hosta 'Blue Angel'. This is a celestial superstar among plantain lilies, growing into a large plant (up to 60cm tall and wide) once mature, turning a dull, shady corner into a leafy paradise with its gorgeous powdery blue foliage. Each leaf can reach up to 40cm in length after a few years once it’s really settled in and formed a good clump. Hostas are easy to care for, fully hardy and very low maintenance. Each year they grow back with more force than the last, producing more leaves each time. When the hardy perennial Hosta 'Blue Angel' reaches full size, it’ll make a big statement in borders or contains, where it’s divine, glaucous foliage will simply take your breath away.
Hosta 'Blue Angel' is known to be one of the very best blue hostas, with lavender-tinged white, trumpet-shaped blooms rising triumphantly above its foliage in June and July. And its not just your garden visitors who will be bowled over by this heavenly host; pollinators love the flowers too. Hostas thrive in a reliably moist, free-draining soil and although most need to be in shade or partial shade, this particular variety can also be planted in full sun if the soil is kept on the damper side. Look forward to a long season of interest – Hosta 'Blue Angel' retains its gorgeous leaves and blue tone throughout the season from spring into autumn. The easy way to know you’re onto a winner with a plant is if it’s accredited with and RHS Award of Garden Merit, which this one indeed is and is completely worth of!

Useful information
-
Soak the Hosta 'Blue Angel' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Plantain lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
