Description

There’s a touch of theatrical glamour about Hibiscus 'Summer Storm'—the kind that makes you pause mid-watering can in admiration. This rose mallow is a hardy perennial with a strong, upright habit, forming a handsome bush cloaked in dark purple-red foliage. When late summer arrives, its spectacular, dinner-plate-sized blooms unfurl in soft pink, each marked with a dramatic, star-shaped crimson centre that glows like a sunset through stained glass. Even when not in flower, Hibiscus 'Summer Storm' lends rich contrast to border companions — think silver grasses, pale echinaceas, or creamy phlox — creating a painterly tableau of colour and texture.

As a late-season performer, Hibiscus 'Summer Storm' brings warmth and exuberance to the garden just when many plants begin to fade. Its blossoms draw bees and butterflies in droves, rewarding both gardener and pollinator alike. Despite its exotic looks, it’s wonderfully hardy and surprisingly easy to grow, thriving best in full sun with moisture-retentive soil. Plant Hibiscus 'Summer Storm' where you can admire its extravagant blooms up close, by a terrace, pond, or path, and enjoy its blend of drama and grace year after year.
