Description
Hemerocallis 'Lavender Tutu' needs to be seen close-up, and even then, you probably won’t believe what you’re seeing! In midsummer, each flower has a base colour that varies, depending on the age of the petals and the amount of direct sunlight, from lavender to dusky pink. But there is also a dramatic ruffled golden edge to the petals , and in the centre of the flower (the throat) we are hit with a gorgeous blast of chartreuse-green. This daylily is a stunner!
First released to the gardening public 13 years ago, this 'Lavender Tutu' daylily has proved to be a constant winner. At around just 60cm in height, it is suitable for the front of the border, where you can get to see these amazing flowers at close quarters.
Even better, Hemerocallis 'Lavender Tutu' often sends out a second flush of bloom towards the end of the summer—and, as if this is not enough, they have a slight fragrance (unusual for daylilies). All of this means it is the perfect subject for planting in borders, beds and containers—particularly in smaller spaced gardens, where it appears in complete proportion.

Useful information
-
Soak the Hemerocallis 'Lavender Tutu' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Daylily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
