Description
Primarily for planting as a houseplant, Gloxinia 'Etoile de Feu' will make a huge impact in your home. The large (up to 7cm or 3 inch in diameter) velvety red trumpet-shaped blooms will sound the call and cause you and your guests to stand to attention. A touch of black deepens the tubular centre of the plant and light pinkish white trims the petals. The flowers cluster on top of dainty stems above compact green foliage with large toothed leaves!
Gloxinia 'Etoile de Feu' reaches a height of under 30 cm (1 foot) and will flower in August and September if situated in a warm place, where it’s out of direct sunlight but still gets plenty of light.
