Description
Enjoy the stark contrast of dark and light which Geranium 'Midnightlyona' (also known as Geranium 'Midnight Ghost') brings to the garden. It’s strikingly beautiful, with its bewitching dark foliage and its ephemeral papery-white flowers. In bloom from late spring through to early summer, this low-growing geranium provides an easy way to create interesting colour contrasts and textures in gardens and containers. The finely-cut leaves are a great asset, emerging in a sumptuous dark purple that is almost black, and maturing to deep green edged with purple. Touches of pink illuminate the stems and buds. The simple, pretty flowers of Geranium 'Midnight Ghost' are attractive to pollinators, making this a great option for the wildlife-friendly garden too.
Like other cranesbill geraniums, Geranium 'Midnight Ghost' is wonderfully easy- going and simple to grow. Happy in most well-draining soils, in sun or in partial shade, and drought-tolerant once established, it is untroubled by many of the garden pests such as slugs that can damage more delicate plants. It grows low, to around 20cm high, making a beautiful ground cover plant for the fronts of borders or along pathways. Geranium 'Midnight Ghost' is also a lovely accent plant in a container, contrasting really effectively with other plants in shades of pink, purple, white and silver. Tough, resilient and beautiful, this plant, supplied as a bare-root perennial, will grow ever-stronger each year.

Useful information
-
Soak your Geranium 'Midnight Ghost' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Cranesbill" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
