Geranium 'Azure Rush'

Geranium 'Azure Rush' is a compact cranesbill with a wonderfully generous flowering season, producing lilac-blue blooms from May right through to October. A neater, less exuberant relation of the much-loved 'Rozanne', it brings the same easy-going charm in a more contained form, which is excellent news for smaller borders and tidy gardeners. Geranium 'Azure Rush' forms a low, spreading mound of fresh green foliage, dotted for months with open, saucer-shaped flowers that glow beautifully in soft summer light. It has that relaxed, slightly informal geranium habit, but without becoming unruly, making it a very useful front-of-border plant.

Use Geranium 'Azure Rush' as ground cover along path edges, beneath roses, between perennials or in a container where its long display can spill gently over the sides. It is hardy and frost resistant, dying back in winter before returning with fresh growth in spring, which is always reassuring in a plant that looks this delicate. Geranium 'Azure Rush' pairs beautifully with catmint, salvias, alchemilla, pale pink roses and ornamental grasses, adding cool colour and easy movement through the warmer months. Low-maintenance, floriferous and obligingly compact, Geranium 'Azure Rush' is just the sort of cranesbill that earns its place quietly, then keeps flowering as if it has no intention of stopping.
