Its warm red flowers, tipped with vibrant yellow, offer a fiery contrast that really catches the eye. Gaillardia 'Kobold' adds a warm, cheerful tone to your garden, blooming profusely from early summer right into autumn, ensuring your outdoor space is full of life and colour for months.
Gaillardia × grandiflora 'Kobold' is a hardy and resilient little plant. It thrives in well-drained soil and full sun, making it a great choice for those sunny spots that need a low-maintenance, high-impact flower. The bushy nature of this blanketflower ensures it forms a tidy, vibrant mound that adds structure to any planting scheme. As a bonus, it attracts pollinators, making it not only beautiful but beneficial for your garden’s ecosystem. If you’re after a plant that offers long-lasting colour, low maintenance, and a bit of fiery flair, Gaillardia 'Kobold' is the perfect addition to your garden.
Our Gaillardia 'Kobold' plants are supplied as a root ball with healthy growth, ensuring a strong start. They are carefully shipped in our unique cardboard box, designed to keep them safe and in top condition. This ensures they arrive healthy and ready to thrive in their new home.
Gaillardia is called blanketflower because its red-yellow, woven-looking petals resemble the patterns of traditional Native American blankets.

Useful information
-
Soak your Gaillardia 'Kobold' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Blanketflower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
