Description
Froth up your late summer borders with Eupatorium 'Snowball'. Growing tall and covered in lush, green foliage along the length of the stems, they establish a strong clump over time which will sit well at the back of a border. In late summer, large, rounded flower clusters burst into bloom at the top of each stem. Gradient your border with lower-growing plants at the front and these flowers will add some fizz at the back!
Eupatorium is popular with pollinators. If you’re gardening with wildlife in mind, these reliable, hardy plants are a good staple. Each flower cluster is formed of masses of nectar-rich blooms which will do their bit to bring in the bees. Late-summer flowering varieties like Eupatorium are ideal for stretching out the season of interest. Usually, they’ll continue to look great through to October, bringing interest to your garden to enjoy while there’s still some warm sunshine! Eupatorium dubium 'Snowball' cope well with more moisture-retentive soils, which is useful to note if you have clay soil or damp areas in the garden.

Useful information
-
Soak your Eupatorium 'Snowball' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Joe Pye weed" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
