Description
Let your summer sparkle with this gleaming highlight, Eryngium 'Magical Silver'! With frosty-looking cool green blooms, this sea holly will provide lasting interest through the season. Not only is it a great-looking and easy-going garden plant, but bees and butterflies will be keen on its nectar-rich flowers too. Strong, upright stems are self supporting and the display is prolific and enduring—as if that wasn’t enough, snip a few stems and you’ll find they’re amazing cutflowers too!
Eryngium 'Magical Silver' remains strong and attractive for an impressive amount of time. The foliage is a soft sage grey-green, the blooms, from July to September, are similar hue but with a lustrous, icy glaze. When the colour fades in autumn, the plant stems and seedheads of Eryngium planum 'Magical Silver' remain a structural feature in a border. This fully hardy, drought tolerant perennial isn’t fussy, but does best in free-draining poor or sandy soils. If you have a gravel area or a sun-baked border, include this starry number and enjoy its undemanding charm.
With their powerful and bold appearance, eryngiums or sea hollies are known to symbolize independence and attraction.

Useful information
-
Soak your Eryngium 'Magical Silver' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Sea holly" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
