Description

Use this towering masterpiece Eremurus himalaicus to bring height and structure to the garden during summer - there’s no doubt you’ll be truly wowed by its absolutely impressive and monumental appearance! Originating from the sandy scrub areas of Asia, Eremurus himalaicus is a real toughy of a plant, tolerating sun-parched exposed sites, poor soil and dry, arid conditions - perfect if you have a hot, sunny spot in your garden, free-draining soil and don’t want to spend a lot of time watering. Growing to a stately height of up to 2.5m, when it comes to flowering you’ll be totally absorbed by this intense white variety.

Also known as the white 'Foxtail Lily', from June to July, huge flower spikes build themselves from the bottom upwards into a long, conical and remarkably upright spur. Each white bloom bears long orange anthers which not only provide a lovely little extra detail, but adds to the bushy, almost fluffy, fox’s tail effect.

And don’t be put off by Eremurus’s exotic origins – if you live in a milder part of the UK, this strong-spirited superhero will thrive just as well as on a Himalayan hillside, given the warmest, sunniest spot in the garden such as in front of a south-facing wall. Another great benefit; if you’re looking for a powerful plant to display as a cut flower in your home, a few stems of this big, bold variety should most definitely do the trick!
