Unpack bare roots or rhizomes on arrival and plant them within a week. Until then, keep them somewhere cool and ensure the roots remain slightly moist, never wet.

Echinacea
'Lemon Drop'
coneflower
Splash a refreshing twist of citrus into your plant combinations with the help of Echinacea 'Lemon Drop'. This gloriously golden coneflower is simply one shade, all the detail is in the flower form. A pompon-like dome of petals are piled into a dome above a skirt of elongated petals which drop below like a shuttlecock. This dainty Echinacea grows into a compact and bushy plant up to 50cm tall, making it perfect for planting towards the front of a border or in patio containers.
There are lots of great reasons to grow Echinacea 'Lemon Drop'. It’s a long-lasting and reliable perennial plant which will grow back every year with little fuss, bees and butterflies love it and also they make wonderful cut flowers. Once a good clump is established, you can look forward to multiple flowering stems in the height summer every year. As with all coneflowers, this variety enjoys a sunny spot in a border with free draining soil.
Echinacea 'Lemon Drop' is so bright and beautiful, it's like sunshine in a flower! This upright perennial coneflower dares to be different, showcasing double-blooms in a gorgeous lemon yellow hue from June to September. The blooms come complete with a delightful central pompom, surrounded by drooping ray petals. Perfect for a container garden, Echinacea 'Lemon Drop' is an absolute shining star, and a surefire way to draw in the pollinators. Shine on, lemon drops!
Plant Echinacea 'Lemon Drop' in a spot in sun where it can easily be seen. Note that it is around 50cm tall and will bush out as it gradually forms a wider clump over the years. It’s a gem in a mixed border with other summer flowering perennials and easily combines with most colours. You can create a really bright display, or go for a more muted, hazy look by planting these coneflowers with ornamental grasses.

Remove the packaging straight away, check the compost and water thoroughly if dry. Check the plant’s hardiness before placing it outdoors. Plant into a border or permanent container within a month, choosing the position recommended for the variety. Keep the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil, firm gently and water well.
Soak the roots in water for three to six hours immediately before planting. Keep any crown, buds or emerging shoots above the water where possible.
Pot most bare roots into 15–20cm pots filled with peat-free multipurpose compost. Large or depth-sensitive roots, including peonies, are often best planted directly into borders.
Arrange the roots naturally without bending them. Cover the roots completely, positioning the crown and buds at the depth recommended for that particular perennial.
Keep pots in a sheltered outdoor position and water whenever the compost begins to dry. Grow on until roots hold the compost together when lifted from the pot.
Plant into a suitable border or permanent container once well rooted. Add a label and water regularly throughout the first growing season while the perennial establishes.
