Description
Why do things by halves when you can flaunt full flower power? If that’s your motto then you’ll love Echinacea 'Eccentric', who 100% agrees with you. That outlandish colour is the first thing which is screaming for attention, and then the sheer size of the stack of petals piled in the centre to form what looks like a feathery crown. This impressive coneflower is full of fun and has plenty of character. Flowering from mid to late summer, you certainly won’t find it blending into the background—it’s the life and soul of the plant party!
Hardy perennials like Echinacea 'Eccentric' are a great investment because they’re low maintenance and also grow back every year. Give it a sunny spot in a border with free-draining soil and ideally plant in groups or swathes so that the flowers can really make an impact. For a hot or jewel-like summer planting scheme, we recommend planting Echinacea 'Eccentric' with other vibrant varieties which have a similar flowering time and contrasting colours, such as Verbena, Veronica, Heliopsis, or Rudbeckia.
This rather eccentric and unique flower will surely turn heads! Echinacea 'Eccentric' is a delightful upright perennial that stretches up to 60cm, with branches that are covered in rough, hairy leaves. From early to late summer, this beauty produces one stunning, deep red flower-head with a large central cone of double disc florets, surrounded by short ray florets that are strongly reflexed. Echinacea 'Eccentric' is a great choice for any garden; the stunning flowers will be sure to add a pop of colour and a touch of eccentricity!
Plant Echinacea 'Eccentric' in a spot in sun where it can easily be seen. Note that it is around 60cm tall and will bush out as it gradually forms a wider clump over the years. It’s a gem in a mixed border with other summer flowering perennials and easily combines with most colours. You can create a really bright display, or go for a more muted, hazy look by planting these coneflowers with ornamental grasses.

Useful information
-
Soak your Echinacea 'Eccentric' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Coneflower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
