Unpack bare roots or rhizomes on arrival and plant them within a week. Until then, keep them somewhere cool and ensure the roots remain slightly moist, never wet.
'Sunseekers Apple Green'
coneflower
Echinacea 'Sunseekers Apple Green' is not your typical coneflower—it’s a refreshing twist on a garden classic. Instead of the familiar pink or purple, this variety shows off unusual blooms in a soft blend of green-white petals arranged neatly around a bold, rounded cone of green touched with orange. The effect is both striking and calming, like a cool drink on a hot summer’s day. Each flower sits proudly atop sturdy, well-branched stems, ensuring the display lasts through the height of summer while still holding its shape against breezes or passing showers. The neat, upright habit and unusual colouring make Echinacea 'Sunseekers Apple Green' just as suited to modern planting schemes as it is to relaxed cottage borders.
There’s a certain freshness about Echinacea 'Sunseekers Apple Green' that lifts a planting palette. Its subtle tones combine easily with other summer favourites, whether soft blues, silvery foliage or bold purples and reds. The blooms are not just a delight to look at either—pollinators find them irresistible, turning the plant into a lively hub of garden activity. Once the petals eventually fade, the cones themselves remain as an attractive feature, adding autumn structure and even feeding birds. With its unusual green flowers, sturdy character and long season of interest, Echinacea 'Sunseekers Apple Green' proves that coneflowers still have plenty of surprises to offer.

Remove the packaging straight away, check the compost and water thoroughly if dry. Check the plant’s hardiness before placing it outdoors. Plant into a border or permanent container within a month, choosing the position recommended for the variety. Keep the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil, firm gently and water well.
Soak the roots in water for three to six hours immediately before planting. Keep any crown, buds or emerging shoots above the water where possible.
Pot most bare roots into 15–20cm pots filled with peat-free multipurpose compost. Large or depth-sensitive roots, including peonies, are often best planted directly into borders.
Arrange the roots naturally without bending them. Cover the roots completely, positioning the crown and buds at the depth recommended for that particular perennial.
Keep pots in a sheltered outdoor position and water whenever the compost begins to dry. Grow on until roots hold the compost together when lifted from the pot.
Plant into a suitable border or permanent container once well rooted. Add a label and water regularly throughout the first growing season while the perennial establishes.
